Ioanna Gika

ABOUT

Ioanna Gika is a Greek American artist—an accomplished musician, poet, and composer—known for her unique artistic world and dynamic collaborations. Most recently, Gika sang on the Ari Aster film Beau is Afraid in collaboration with Bobby Krlic (The Haxan Cloak) and co-wrote the score for the Netflix Britney Spears documentary Britney vs Spears. For the Christian Dior 22’ fashion show held at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece, Gika performed selections from her 2019 debut album Thalassa with a 70-piece orchestra conducted by Oliver Coates, and starred in the subsequent Dior campaign. Her song “Swan,” from the same album, was covered by Devendra Banhart—the song was also sampled by French Montana in his 2022 single, “Drive.” She has collaborated with avant-garde composer Sarah Davachi, guest starred on the ABC television show Stumptown, and her lyrics were quoted by Booker Prize winner Arundhati Roy in her NY Times best selling book The Ministry Of Utmost Happiness. Gika also wrote the score for Harmony Korine’s film Rebel, collaborated with Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi for Universal’s Dracula, created the score for a Louis Vuitton fall runway collection, and among other things, wrote a song that was shortlisted by the academy for Snow White and The Huntsman. She is at work on her second album.
